Professional Qualifications/Experience
Alex Nelson undertook the New South Wales Barristers and Solicitors Admission Board exams while working full time in the Army at Victoria Barracks in Sydney. He was admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor in New South Wales in 1998, transferring to become an Army Legal Officer whereupon he was posted to the Army’s Headquarters 3rd Brigade at Lavarack barracks in Townsville. He continued to serve as a Legal Officer in the Army Reserve for several years after he resigned from that position.
Alex then worked as a commercial lawyer dealing mainly in property at law Roberts Leu & North (now Roberts Nehmer McKee) before he took a position at Suthers Taylor (now MacDonnells) in commercial litigation, a position that he thoroughly enjoyed.
Toward the end of 2001 Alex established his own firm in Townsville (Nelson Lawyers) dealing with criminal law, family law and commercial litigation.
In 2010 Alex Nelson was called to the bar in Brisbane where he maintains his strong interest in criminal law, family law and commercial litigation. |
